The Approach

The central element of m:power's approach and the one that marks us out as unique, is the link with learning. The stimulation of the human brain through the learning process is inextricably linked to the emotional make-up we have all developed from our school days. We know that lifelong learning is an important part of our long-term physical, emotional and mental well being. Our approach at m:power is to harness the positive characteristics of learning and focus them on to our lives within the workplace.

The Key

One experience we’ve all been through in life is school and the impact that this has on how we think and feel in everyday situations is immense.  Doing something right at school meant the teacher was pleased with us and their response, in the form of complimenting us or giving us a reward, made us pleased with ourselves. Thus we learned an approach to life that runs along the lines of, ‘pleasing those above us makes us feel good and gets us a reward’.

This is the pattern that continues as we engage with the workplace.  We adapt the approach to, ‘pleasing those above us brings us material rewards so we’ll put up with the things we don’t like to gain our reward in the form of promotion, bonus, pay rise etc’. The individual is no longer working for the success of the company, which is therefore weakened by its inability to motivate and inspire the workforce.  A new pattern has to be established where individuals are enriched by the workplace and can therefore fully engage with the challenges it brings.  The process becomes as vital as the outcome.

The Outcome

Now we want to learn because we want to develop our own skills and through this find our rewards.  A learning individual will create a learning team that can evolve and adapt to meet the changing challenges and expectations of any business environment.  The catch up mentality turns into a catch us up dynamic.

It is in changing the nature of our engagement with work through connecting with learning and a new understanding of the intelligences within our teams that m:power’s approach is not only different but has lasting positive impact.
